Dec 29, 2023

I love to look back each year and see what I knocked off my list and what we accomplished. This year was no different! Here are the projects and rooms you loved most in 2023.

DIY Fish pond & fountain

While this DIY caused quite the stir on Instagram (check out those comments!), it was such a fun DIY and easy for an afternoon project. You can read about it here.

Thrifted art into Halloween & Christmas art

For this project you need to find any art you like at your local thrift store, garage sale, or estate sale. Any art will do! I happened to pick up two pieces that I didn’t even realize were from the same artist for mine. Then all you need to do is use your imagination! I took inexpensive craft acrylic paint and painted on ghosts and Christmas trees on the two pieces of art.

You can see the halloween one here.

And the Christmas one here.

Fave room: teen room

My teen’s room gained favor on LTK—especially the rug, of all things! This room was so fun to put together and I love how much he loves his room. We also added clouds to his ceiling this year and he was ecstatic. It isn’t exactly a design element I wanted, but it is his room and he wanted it, so that is all that matters!

In all the teenage mess. Here is the cloud ceiling. It has LED lights and they are set to blink like lightning.

DIY Giant Popcorn Garland

If you want a fun, easy DIY for Christmas next year or even a movie night or movie party, this one is for you!

You’ll need:

Spray foam insulation

Yellow spray paint

Red ornament balls

• Yarn

Upholstery needle

Use latex gloves when spraying your “popcorn”. Place wax paper on a flat surface and spray in coils to the size of your preference. Let them dry for about 45 mintues and then pick them up and form them to be 3D so the bottom isn’t flat.

After they dry overnight, lightly spray a little yellow spray on them to look like butter.

Now take a drill and your ornaments and drill a hole in the end opposite the ornament hanger. Pop the top of the ornament on the other end.

String your yarn through the upholstery needle and then through a ball, then through a popcorn kernel. Repeat until desired length and tie knots in each end to hold in place. See steps in video below.

Fave Home hack

While I haven’t shared a good hack in a while {adds to 2024 list}, I shared some good ones in 2023 but this one was definitely a fan fave!

I found out I have been using a colander all wrong until now! Did you know you just put it over your pot and drain?? 🤯

You can see the video here.

What was your fave this year?

Here is our list for 2024, and I am sure I will add to it!
